The Appalachian Dulcimer is a stringed instrument of the Appalachian region of America. It was developed by German and Scotch-Irish settlers in the region in the 1700s. It is related mostly to the zither family, considering on the style of play. The first records of the instrument are from Galax, Virginia, thus being one of the styles of the modern dulcimer.
